Dragon Lee will miss this Saturday’s tapings for AAA Verano de Escándalo at Arena San Marcos in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
In a message posted on social media, Lee revealed he suffered a ruptured ligament in his thumb during Monday Night RAW on July 20. Because of the injury, Lee said he won’t be able to compete at the show.
Lee teamed with Je’Von Evans that night against World Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker and Austin Theory. Breakker picked up the win with a Spear on Lee, though the masked luchador didn’t reveal exactly when in the match he got hurt.
Lee had been scheduled to face La Parka and Mecha Wolf in a triple threat qualifying match for the AAA Latin American Championship. The winner would have advanced to a fatal four-way match at Triplemanía 34 to determine the next champion.

The title was vacated after El Hijo Del Vikingo suffered a knee injury that will require surgery and keep him out for several months. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. has already locked up a spot in the four-way, while Psycho Clown, El Fiscal, Cruz Del Toro, Damian Priest, Omos and Galeno del Mal will fill out the rest of the qualifying matches.
This marks the second physical setback for Lee since WrestleMania 42. In May, he was out for a few weeks after coming out of the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship banged up, though no specific injury was confirmed at the time.
As of this writing, AAA had not announced a replacement for Lee.
